CLEOPATRA’S NEEDLE CRITICAL HABITAT, the Philippines’ BIGGEST Critical Habitat, TURNS 3 YEARS OLD last December 15!!! On that day in 2017 Palawan Council for Sustainable Development adopted PCSD Resolution #17-612 declaring the pristine forests of Cleopatra’s Needle a Critical Habitat under Republic Act #9147 aka the Wildlife Resources Conservation & Protection Act.
This 40,000-hectare mountain lies on the northern part of Puerto Princesa City, near the world-renowned Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park in the province of Palawan.
Of course the work doesn’t stop there, so we are so pleased to continue our ongoing conservation efforts under the supervision of the Cleopatra’s Needle Management Committee, chaired by the Puerto Princesa City Mayor Lucilo Bayron! 🙂
We hope you’ll join us at Centre for Sustainability (CS) in celebrating this joyous milestone toward the continuing protection of our magnificent natural environment, and our local communities ever more empowered to protect it for our future generations!
& lastly, but not least, HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!! Here’s to a stronger, healthier, & brighter 2021!
It’s been a tough year for everyone across the planet, so salamat po ng marami for all of your support, coming from near and far, for giving us the hope and strength to keep protecting Palawan, the Best Island in the World (officially!).
CS Head Office will be closed from December 16, 2020, so we look forward to seeing you all again from January 4, 2021!
