Puerto Princesa City Library celebrates Library and Information Services Month

November is Library and Information Services month, this year’s theme is “Inclusive, Innovative, and Interconnected” and come third week the whole country celebrate National Book Week.

The 29th Library and Information Services month is headed by the National Commission on Culture and Arts, National Committee on Libraries and Information Services, National Library of the Philippines and Philippine Librarian Association, Inc.

In Palawan, the Puerto Princesa City Library is conducted a Story Telling Contest this last November 14. Contestants comes from 7 satellite library in the city mostly are students from Grade 7 to 12.  A Blog Talk forum featuring your Palawanderer is also set on Nov 20 at 2 in the afternoon, topics to be discuss is introduction to blogging, how to be a social media influencer and content creations.

And on November 21 to 22, City Librarian Joymarie Olape will visit the satellite libraries for inspection and to conduct “Basa Bunot Panalo” contest, that’s in the celebration of National Book Week.

In the whole province of Palawan there is only one library in the Municipality of Narra, while Puerto Princesa has the bigger library found in the premises of Mendoza Park, along with 7 satellite libraries situated in Brgy. Sta. Lourdes, San Jose, San Rafael, Langogan, Mangingisda, Inagawan and Kamuning.

The City Library accepts any books as donations, please be remind those who want to  give books especially activity books, to make sure it is not written by hand or contain answers. Library card is free to the public for those who want to avail, first timer need to bring any valid ID in order to be permitted to get inside the library.
