Despite the stringent effort to curb the pandemic around the globe, the Delta variant found new routes into Southeast Asia. Cases were at an all-time high in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines. Indonesia has the highest number of cases with 3,989,060 cases and 127,214 deaths followed by the Philippines with 1,857,646 cases and 31,961 deaths and Malaysia with 11,572,765 cases and 14,342 deaths. The highly contagious Delta variant was first detected in India last October and has become the dominant strain worldwide.
