San Vicente adds a new festival on their list, it’s the Ayeg Festival celebrated last January 9 to 12 held only in Brgy. New Agutaya. It’s a harvest tribute event that gives back to nature and honoring the first group of people that resides in the northwestern municipality of Palawan, the Agutaynens

“Itong event na to ay pinagtibay ng isang barangay resolution so matatawag natin tong legal o may legality na pinag daanan, natulungan kami ng business sectors through solicitation pero hindi naman kami pinabayaan ng LGU at ng Provincial Government.” Alex Baaco, Ayeg Festival chairman said.

Among the highlights of Ayeg are the street dancing competition participated by the different Sitios of Brgy. New Agutaya, the Solteras Tang Ayeg pageant that won by Riza Mae Decena of Purok Makabayan, and inter-agency medical mission.

But the most important event is the awarding of successful Agutaynen that excel in their own chosen fields mostly professionals or successful business owners here and abroad, here is the complete list of all the awardees.

“Ayeg is a from local word of Agutaynen means harvest or ani, na binase namin ang festival sa source of living ng New Agutaya na farming at fishing, kung makikita nyo mayron tayong malawak na lupain at may maganda tayong karagatan at long beach, in return pagbibigay pasasalamat natin sa whole year round na ani, sa palay, sa mga yamang dagat.” Baaco said.

The Agutaynens are now preparing for another celebration this coming summer, Baaco said it will be a beach fun-filled gathering this time, happening only in San Vicente.
