As part of the 32nd National Statistics Month (NSM) celebration, with the theme, “NSM @32: Revving up for Economic and Social Recovery Through Evidence-Based Policies”.
College freshmen from various universities and colleges in MIMAROPA Region participated in the contest. The quiz covers topics in Probability and Statistics, Trivia and Statistical Laws pertinent to Philippine Statistics Authority. This is to emphasized the importance of statistics in the economy, society and in our day-to-day life’s activities.
Palawan State University’s representative Mr. Maruel Elpred Vincent Cudio, a BS Biology major in Medical Biology freshman student dominated the three rounds of the quiz and declared champion in the contest. Engr. Jerico M. Padrones, the current Internal Audit Service Director of PSU and a faculty member of the Mathematics Department – College of Sciences served as coach for Mr. Cudio. The schedule for the national finals for Statistics Quiz is yet to announce.
Mr. Cudio bested the other contestants from Mindoro State University (MinSU) who took the 2nd place while City College of Calapan (CCC) took the 3rd place. Other contestants were from Occidental Mindoro State College (OMSC), Palawan Polytechnic College (PPCI), Educational System Technological Institute of Marinduque (ESTI) and the Divine World College of San Jose (DWCSJ) in Occidental Mindoro.
