The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Puerto Princesa City will conduct satellite voter registration in SM City Puerto Princesa on July 30-31, 2021.
This initiative is part of Comelec’s move to provide a more convenient and accessible venue for voter registration for the May 2022 national and local elections.
“Our aim is to give the public an accessible and efficient registration experience and provide alternative satellite registration sites by opening registration booths in malls,” Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said in a statement.
Registrants should bring their valid government identification cards (ID) with pictures and signatures, as well as an original and photocopy of their birth certificate. If their residence is not stated on the ID, they should bring proof of their residence or billing statements, like water bills or electric bills.
“Applicants will be able to submit their forms and documentary requirements and have their biometrics data taken in the comfort and convenience of mall spaces,” Jimenez said.
In consideration of mall hours, the satellite registration site in SM City Puerto Princesa will accept a limited number of applicants from 9AM to 5PM. Only applications from residents of Puerto Princesa City, or from those intending to transfer their registration record to the City, will be accommodated.
SM City Puerto Princesa and the Comelec reminds everyone to observe health protocols in the venue such as wearing of face masks, face shields and social distancing.
